On the 31st March 2025, Hugh passed away very peacefully in The Galway Hospice. Pre-deceased by his parents, Paddy and Máire McFadden and father in-law Michael Irwin. Deeply regretted and sadly missed by his loving wife Edel, his precious daughters; Aileen, Maya and Anna, sisters; Anne, Kathleen, Maureen and Noreen, brothers; Pádraig and Raymond, mother in-law Eileen, brothers in-law Pat, Kieran, John Paul and Joseph, sisters in-law Jacinta and Gemma, extended family neighbours and his many friends.

Reposing at Irwin’s Funeral Home, Bóthar Irwin, Galway City (H91 CK84), on Thursday the 3rd of April from 4pm. Removal at 7pm to his home in Blackgarden, Craughwell. Hugh's Requiem Mass will take place on Friday the 4th of April at 1pm, in St. Colman's Church, Craughwell (H91 F5X2). Hugh will then be laid to rest in Killogilleen Cemetery, Craughwell, Co. Galway.
