Mattie Cormican

Lakeview, Claregalway, Co. Galway
17th April 2026

It is with great sadness that we share the news of the passing of our beloved Mattie, who died peacefully in the care of the staff of Galway Hospice, surrounded by his family, after a short illness, in his 93rd year. Predeceased by his darling wife Bridie, his brother Patrick and sisters Bridie White and Sally Glynn. Sadly missed by his daughters and sons, Marie, Ann, Eamon, Joe, Michelle and Karen, daughters-in-law, sons-in-law, sisters Madge Forde, Theresa Glynn (Delaware) and Una Cormican, his 12 grandchildren and great-grandson, nieces, nephews, relatives, neighbours and friends.

His long years of labour are done. He is resting with Bridie, in the mansions of heaven.

Reposing at Síoraíocht, within the grounds of the Church of the Assumption and St. James, Claregalway (H91 XH02), on Sunday the 19th of April, from 5pm. Removal at 7pm to the adjacent church. Mattie's Requiem Mass will be celebrated on Monday the 20th of April at 11am. Mattie will then be laid to rest in Claregalway cemetery. Mass will also be broadcast on Claregalway Parish Radio at 106.4 FM.

House private please. Family flowers only. Donations, if desired, to The Galway Hospice.
